1.Genesis

Post graduate studies and Research in Biochemistry was established in 1982 as part of the chemistry Department at the main campus of Gulbarga University. Department of Biochemistry has laid a strong foundation for teaching and research, attracted students opting for course as first choice. The excellent training at M.Sc. and Ph.D. level has helped the students to obtain in National and International Laboratories as well as in industry. The department has proved for its potential centre for research as evidence by its outstanding publications and grants obtained from various National and International funding agencies. This Department is recognized by UGC-SAP. The first phase of UGC-SAP (DRS-I) for the period from 2009 to 2014 has been completed and Second phase of UGC-SAP (DRS-II) for the period from 2016-21 is going on.

True excellence in education requires a commitment, hard work, self reliance and dedication.  Thus, we strive to prepare creative, confidence, competent, critically reflective Science graduates who possess deep knowledge in their fields of study and work collaboratively to achieve high quality education.
