Thrust Area

The current problems and Issues at national and state level such as Liberalisation, Globalization and Privatization and their impact on the various sectors of the economy and on the farmers and the poor people, are on the main research agenda of the department. The research covers various areas such as Agriculture, Industry, Entrepreneurship, Infrastructure- Power, Irrigation, Transport and Communication and Health and Irrigation.

The evaluation of various Development Programmes of the Government and the Panchayat are also taken up to provide a feedback to the implementing agencies.

Gulbarga University is established in a backward region of Karnataka State, popularly known as Hyderabad Karnatak Region. The department therefore, has always worked to serve the needs of this region and contribute to its development. The thrust areas of research are guided by this noble cause. A major part of research undertaken by the active research faculty in the department refers to the analysis the economic problems of this backward region and suggests suitable strategies to overcome them.
